A field guide to Donut Place
THE CLIENT'S OWN WORDS
Donut Place does not ship a manual, so its vocabulary has to be collected from the screen. This page lists the terms we have actually seen printed, in the order a new player meets them.
- TESTED every term below was read off the client on 2026-11-05
- IN-GAME PROGRESS, NO SEAT!, TRASH, HR — quoted exactly as printed
- OFFICIAL ONLY the portal page uses its own words: tycoon, management, collect
- NEEDS CHECK terms for staff, dough, and a day end — we have not met them yet
On the floor
| Term | What the client shows | What we take it to mean |
|---|---|---|
PROGRESS | a bar at the top centre with a percentage | the game's own measure of how far along the shop is |
NO SEAT! | a speech bubble over a waiting customer | every chair is taken and they are still queuing |
TRASH | a green bin inside the shop | somewhere to put rubbish, which a shop sim usually charges you for leaving around |
HR | a sign over a small room | the place a hire happens; its tag read 120 |
Money
The top right corner holds a banknote icon and a figure — 400 when the shop opens. It is not a score: it rises when customers pay and falls when you buy something. We have not seen a second currency, a bank screen, or a loan.
Words we have not met
The portal describes the game as a tycoon and a management game, which
implies staff wages, a day cycle and probably a stock system. None of those
words have appeared on screen in our session yet, so this glossary does not
define them. When they do appear, they will be quoted with the date.
